When I sat down to write "Battlefield of Love," I kept coming back to one simple thought: being chosen is the greatest feeling in the world.
We live in a time where relationships can feel disposable. It's easy to walk away, easier to ghost someone over the smallest disagreement, and even easier to believe there's always someone else just a swipe away. Somewhere along the way, choosing each other every day started to feel less common.
"Battlefield of Love" isn't about pretending relationships are easy. They're not. Love asks us to grow, to forgive, to communicate, and sometimes to fight for each other. The real victory isn't finding someone perfect—it's finding someone who's willing to stand beside you through life's ups and downs.
"In the battlefield of love, when there's no one left for us... I choose you."
This isn't just a love song. It's a call to arms, an anthem, for anyone who's found their person. In a world that somewhat encourages us to look for what's next, I hope this song reminds people to cherish the person who's been there through the highs, the lows, and everything in between. The one who's fought beside you instead of walking away. The one who chooses you everyday.
Debuting the song at the San Diego County Fair made the moment even more meaningful. The Fair has become a place where I get to share the first glimpse of each new chapter with the people who have supported my music from the beginning. From So In Love to Goodbye, and now Battlefield of Love, it's become a tradition I'm incredibly grateful for.
More than anything, I hope this song reminds you that love isn't defined by finding someone who never makes life difficult. It's defined by finding someone who still reaches for your hand when life gets hard.

The official music video for "Till It's Over" struck virality with over 300,000 views & was filmed live at the House of Blues in downtown San Diego. “I wrote this song about that feeling you get being So In Love. The things we are willing to do in that state of mind. When we are in love, we can get rather silly and act out things we wouldn't normally. Love is such a powerful force in our world. It can be the best feeling ever and also be unbelievably painful when things go awry. This song speaks to the up and downs of a relationship. An incredible thing about music is when people take a song like this and make it their own. I have my story as to what it means to me. When we play it live, people will tell us it reminds them of "their quarantine romance". I am honored to create music that moves people in anyway"
On July 2nd, Matthew Phillips and his band took to the Main Stage at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. A single and video release concert with thousands in attendance. The show was well received amongst his hometown audience. This show marked the conclusion of the "So In Love Tour." Multiple festivals sharing the bill with acts like Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse and Pink. It traversed multiple national dates at legendary venues like the Saban Theatre, The Troubadour, The Whiskey a Go Go, the Viper room, and multiple House of Blues locations. International dates included stops in Australia, Ireland, Norway, Mexico, and finally the home the Beatles, The Cavern Club on Mathew Street, Liverpool, United Kingdom.
